HISTORY OF WSDN CONFERENCE

The World Society of Disaster Nursing (WSDN) was established in 2008 with the mission to advance disaster nursing globally through academic collaboration, research, and knowledge exchange. Since its first international conference held in Kobe, Japan, in 2009, WSDN has grown into a leading platform for experts, practitioners, and researchers committed to strengthening disaster preparedness, response, and resilience in healthcare.

Following Kobe, the society continued its journey around the world, hosting conferences in Cardiff City, United Kingdom (2012); Beijing, China (2014); Jakarta, Indonesia (2016); Bremen, Germany (2018); and Seoul, Korea (2020, held online due to the pandemic). In 2022, the conference was successfully held in Taipei, Taiwan, and returned once again to Kobe, Japan, in 2024, reaffirming the society’s roots and renewed commitment to global disaster nursing. Each conference has brought together a dynamic community of international participants, fostering the exchange of innovative ideas, best practices, and research advancements in disaster nursing.

Looking ahead, Malaysia is honoured and excited to be selected as the host country for the 2026 WSDN Conference, which will be held in the culturally rich city of Kuching, Sarawak. We eagerly welcome global participants to join us in further advancing disaster nursing knowledge and collaboration.
