Portrait of Professor Sonoe Mashino

Dr. Sonoe Mashino, RN, PHN, is a Professor at the Research Institute of Nursing Care for People and Community, University of Hyogo, and Program Director of the Disaster Nursing Degree Program at its Graduate School of Nursing. She also serves as Head of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Disaster Risk Management for Health. Originally specializing in nursing leadership and management education and research, Dr. Mashino has expanded her expertise to include disaster nursing, health workforce development, community resilience, and simulation-based education. She has led and contributed to numerous national and international research projects, including collaborations with WHO. Dr. Mashino is frequently invited to speak at academic conferences both in Japan and internationally, reflecting her leadership in the field. She currently chairs the World Society of Disaster Nursing and holds key roles in several professional organizations. With over 30 years of experience, she is dedicated to advancing evidence-based practices and building resilient health systems.
